What is the HENC Professional Development Day?
The HENC Professional Development Day is an in-person conference that brings together higher education professionals from across the sector for a full day of learning, collaboration, and networking. This year’s theme is Supporting Your Best Professional Self in Higher Education. To learn more, please visit the Professional Development Day website.
Who should attend this event?
This event is ideal for higher education professionals at all levels — staff, faculty, and administrators — interested in working more effectively, improving their leadership skills, navigating their careers, or building partnerships that matter.

When will registration open?
Registration will open in mid-August.
What is the cost to attend?
The early bird registration fee is $85 (plus applicable transaction fees) from when registration opens until September 15. After September 15, the fee increases to $115 (plus applicable transaction fees).
Will food be provided?
Yes. The event will include lunch and the cost is included in the registration fee. Breakfast will not be provided.
Will sessions be recorded or available after the event?
Sessions will not be recorded. However, resources and materials from sessions will be shared with all registered attendees following the event.

Is parking available?
Yes. Parking will be available at the Simmons University Parking Garage, just a short walk from the event venue. Rates and payment details are available on our Travel Planning page.
Can I take public transportation?
Yes! MBTA bus routes #8, #19, #47, CT-2, and CT-3 all stop just outside the Simmons University campus on the corner of The Fenway and Avenue Louis Pasteur. The campus is also a short walk from the Museum of Fine Arts MBTA station. Please note the Museum of Fine Arts stop is served by the E Branch of the Green Line only.
Are hotel accommodations available nearby?
Simmons University is located in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston. There are multiple hotel accommodations available nearby. Check the Travel Planning page for information about a discounted hotel block — link will be live when registration opens in mid-August.

Other Questions
Is there anything happening before the Professional Development Day?
Yes! We’re planning a Pre-Conference Happy Hour on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:30–7:30 PM. It’s an informal chance to connect with colleagues before the big day. Food and drinks are on your own, and all higher ed professionals are welcome even if you’re not attending PD Day. The venue will be near Simmons University and will be confirmed closer to the event date.
Will there be opportunities for networking?
Yes! The event is designed to foster connection through both structured sessions and informal opportunities to meet colleagues from across the region.
